Do I need Council Approval?
Free standing Garden Sheds that are 10 sq metres (3 x 3 m) or less often do not require Council approval and can be classified as a class 10A building. Class 10A buildings can be self assessed but are required to meet set requirements and criteria. Approvals are required if the Garden Shed is larger than 10 sq metres and has a deck. Siting Variations are required if the Garden Shed is too close to the house, fence or property boundaries. It is best to check with a Private Certifier to confirm the location of the Garden Shed is within your property, size, height and boundary constraints. Read more about Council approvals…
