Cantilever Hardwood Pergola

This Spotted Gum Hardwood Cantilever Pergola has been added to a residence in the Grange bringing shade and privacy to the pool area.  The Spotted Gum double rafters have been cut into the laminated posts for a seamless feature and to provide strength to hold the 6 m long Spotted Gum battens.

The Spotted Gum has been oiled with a Merbau tint to match the screening and it provides a rich color on the Spotted Gum timber. The Spotted Gum laminated posts have been attached to the besser block wall, we were able to confirm the engineering strength of the block wall with the building plans. The Spotted Gum timber has been oiled using a Merbau tint that not only matches the screened area but brings out a rich, vibrant color in the timber.

Cantilever Pergolas can be tricky to install and the engineering has been confirmed on the boundary bessa-block wall. The Hardwood Post can be attached to the besser block wall to hold the weight of the Cantilever Pergola. Even though the Pergola was within 10 sq m, because it was directly on the boundary and provided tall privacy screening for the Townhouse complex behind it was recommended a Building Application was undertaken to ensure compliance. With the additional pre-made merbau screening it really does provide great privacy screening for the pool area from the upstairs windows of the complex behind.
